Lighting is something that i have put off until now because i wanted to have the models and textures in the scene before lighting. As most of them are done and in the scene i can now start to light the scene with the help of Jack.
We wanted to go for a dark and gloomy look, as this is going to be a dungeon environment light would be something hard to come by, Fire was the only source we could, Jack did some effects and Alex mocked up some torches. Combining that with the torches, smoke effects and flame effects we had something that looked like a demonic torch that we could then place around the environment to light the scene.
I think that we have done a good job at doing this and have light the scene just enough to see but not too much to take the gloominess away and to keep the look we wanted. However i do think that if needed we could increase the intensity of some of the point lights to brighten the scene up a bit. We avoided directional and ambient lights to keep the shadows, shadowy and i think this has worked very well. John also wrote a script which allowed the lights intensity to flicker, this gave a nice dynamic look to the lights.
